In a world of increasing internationalisation, with the emergence of ever more global identities, how can local culture be promoted within higher art education?
This publication analyses how the Llotja School of Art and ESDAPC have addressed this issue, particularly through short-term mobility actions known as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs). This type of programme was created by the European Union within the Erasmus+ framework in 2021, under Regulation (EU) 2021/817 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2021, which established the Erasmus+ Programme for education, training, youth and sport for the 2021–2027 period.
Lasting between one and two weeks, BIPs constitute a multidisciplinary action involving at least three European higher education institutions or universities that jointly develop a shared project. Given that Llotja counts among its distinguished alumni such figures as Joan Miró, Antoni Gaudí, Pablo Picasso, Llorenç Artigas and Jaume Plensa, the programmes are designed around these artists as a pedagogical element to strengthen and promote local culture.
This book examines the value of this type of action and also incorporates the perspectives of various professionals and teaching staff who have taken part in them. It likewise includes a selection of images of the artists we have worked with, as well as of students who have produced collaborative or individual artworks during these activities.
The book will be presented in October 2027, during a series of sessions aimed at international coordinators and staff at Llotja school.
